Ayuda Celebrates 35 Years of Achieving Justice and Opportunity for New Americans
Ayuda was honored to have Bernie Williams of the New York Yankees and Teresa Rodriguez of Univision (see all pictures) help Ayuda celebrate and recognize our 35 years of work with immigrant communities.
The Governor of Virginia Tim Kaine also recognized Ayuda and our honorees.
At the Gala, Ayuda honored two local leaders for their commitment to justice for all immigrants: Carlos Castro, founder of Todos Supermarkets, and David Rohrer, Chief of Police for Fairfax County. Castro helped start the Ayuda Business Coalition, which was formed in 2007 by business leaders concerned about local government proposals impacting the civil rights and quality of life of Latinos in Virginia. Chief Rohrer was recognized for his dedication in promoting fairness and equality when dealing with immigrant communities in his jurisdiction.
